BUKIT MERTAJAM: The government will introduce stricter laws to tackle cyberbullying, which is becoming more concerning, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He stated that a bill addressing this issue would be presented at the upcoming Parliament sitting.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that the new cyberbullying laws would be more stringent. He also mentioned requesting authorities such as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to enforce these laws to the fullest extent, with no compromises. Anwar made these remarks at the ‘Temu Anwar Generasi Ada Idea (Gen-AI)’ program at the Gravitas Business Park, Jalan Baru Prai.
The event was attended by notable figures including Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, and MCMC Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.

rtance of balancing freedom with responsibility, noting that while the country values freedom, it does not permit criminal activities such as bullying. He underscored the severe psychological impacts of bullying, which can threaten a person’s safety and life, and stressed the need for decisive action.
“Freedom is not meant for you to abuse others. Freedom is not meant for you to insult people, humiliate people,” Anwar asserted. He reinforced that Malaysia aspires to be a nation that champions freedom and justice while rejecting all forms of oppression and abuse.
