Globe restores services in 7 storm-hit provinces


Telecommunications giant Globe Telecom, Inc. (Globe) has restored its services in seven provinces hit by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami), with additional restoration efforts underway in other affected areas as conditions improve, the firm said on Friday.

In a statement, Globe said service restoration was completed in Camarines Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte as of 9 a.m. after these areas experienced outages due to power interruptions.

Restoration efforts are nearly complete in Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Albay, Sorsogon, and Leyte, according to Globe.

Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto said ground crews have also begun restoration efforts in affected sites in Southern Luzon.

‘We are glad to report that several sites affected by power outages due to Kristine are back up 100% just as the storm makes its way out of Philippine territory. Our personnel are on the ground in other
affected areas to swiftly restore service to support relief and recovery efforts and help communities cope with the devastating impact of the storm,’ Crisanto said.

Globe has also deployed emergency response services to provide communications support in severely hit areas, including its free call, charging, and WiFi stations.

Globe has activated a Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi booth in front of a mall in Zone 1B, Barangay ABC in Cebu City. The station will remain operational until Saturday.

Globe has encouraged its customers to contribute to relief efforts by donating Globe Rewards points via the GlobeOne app
