Flood Victims In Kedah Decrease To 7,174 As of Tonight

KUALA LUMPUR, The number of flood victims in Kedah continues to decline, reported at 7,174 as of 8 pm, down from 7,252 earlier in the afternoon.

According to the Disaster Info report from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM), all victims from 2,310 families are currently sheltered in 34 relief centres across four affected districts.

Kota Setar still records the highest number of victims at 4,943, followed by Pendang (1,606), Kubang Pasu (552), and Pokok Sena with 73.

The Public Infobanjir website of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) indicated that the water level of Sungai Anak Bukit at TAR Bridge, Kota Setar remained at a dangerous level.

In PERAK, the State Disaster Management Committee reported that the number of flood victims remained at 29 as of 8 pm, all of whom were still housed at SK Changkat Lobak in Kerian.

JPS also reported that Sungai Perak at Teluk Sena in the Perak Tengah district was at a dangerous level with water levels reaching 13.18 metres.
