Flood: Families Evacuated To PPS Eligible To Receive RM1,000 From State Govt – Sanusi

ALOR SETAR, The Kedah state government will distribute RM1,000 in Community Welfare Assistance to each head of household who moves to a temporary flood evacuation center (PPS) in the state.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the coordination of the initial aid was through the Disaster Operations Control Center in each district involved.

He said the federal government’s RM1,000 contribution will be distributed through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), and channelled through the Kedah State Development Office to the flood victims.

According to Muhammad Sanusi, as of 2 pm this afternoon, a total of 29 PPS were opened in seven districts, eight in Kota Setar, Pokok Sena (four), Pendang (three), Kubang Pasu (seven), Bandar Baharu (one), Kulim (three) and Kuala Muda (three).

‘A total of 3,835 victims including 1,137 heads of household (KIR) in all the PPS concerned. I would like to advise all the individuals involved to obey every instruction of the authorities if they are
ordered to move to PPS,’ he said.

Muhammad Sanusi said failure to move to PPS or comply with the procedures instructed will cause flood victims to drop out of the list of government aid recipients.

He said police officers will be stationed at each PPS to make it easier for victims to file a report, adding that state and district Disaster Operations Control Centres will operate 24 hours throughout the period of disaster to monitor and supervise the situation.

‘Parents, especially, watch over your children to avoid any incident that may result in injury or fatality. This is a test from God, pray a lot so that the situation is not more harmful and things are made easier for all of us,’ he said.
