Eight passengers die, over 20 injured in Laos’ Bolikhamxay traffic accident

Eight passengers were killed and over 20 others were injured after a bus crushed into a truck in Thapabath district, Laos’ Bolikhamxay province on May 1, according to Vientiane Rescue 1623.

The victims include two British, two South African, and one Swedish.

The bus was traveling from the southern Lao province when it collided with a truck from Vientiane Capital on Route 13 South, 64 kilometers from Vientiane.

According to Vientiane Rescue, about 42 volunteers and nine ambulances, including the first responders, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, and hydraulic rescue specialists were dispatched to the accident scene.

Injured passengers were taken to Friendship and Setthathirath hospitals in Vientiane Capital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation./.
