‘Educare Back To School’ vouchers for 1,000 students in Penang

KEPALA BATAS, Feb 13 (Bernama) — The ‘Educare Back to School 2023’ programme is timely assistance for 1,000 needy students from 21 schools statewide through the Penang Governor’s Charity Foundation (Yayasan Amal TYT PP) this year.

Chief executive officer of Yayasan Amal TYT PP Datuk Seri Rozali Mohamud said the ‘Educare Back to School 2023′ programme worth RM250,000 was expedited to ease the burden on families in providing schooling essentials for their children.

“Each student involved will receive a voucher worth RM250. They can use the voucher to buy school supplies such as two sets of school uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, stationery and equipment to go to school,” he said after handing over the assistance to 80 students from the B40 group in a ceremony graced by the Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak at Mydin Bertam today.

Rozali said that students and parents could use the vouchers to make purchases at six Mydin branches in the northern region, namely Mydin Bertam, Mydin Penang Road, Mydin Bukit Jambul, Mydin Taman Saga, Mydin Parti Buntar and Mydin Taman Batik.

Meanwhile, a Student Affairs senior assistant from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pauh Jaya, Noorazalina Johari, said the voucher given was very timely for students from the disadvantaged group.

“The cost of living is now higher. With this voucher, students can buy essential items without depending on the income of their parents,” she said.

Thirteen-year-old P. Veni, a student from the Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Ladang Juru who received the Yayasan Amal TYT PP school aid, said that it helped her in buying complete school supplies.

“I am very grateful for the help because it really reduces the burden of buying things needed for schooling. I feel excited to go back to school after this holiday,” she said.
