Bernama Fetes Staff For Festival Of Lights

KUALA LUMPUR, The excitement of the upcoming Deepavali festival on Oct 31 was felt today when some 30 Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) employees celebrated the Festival of Lights with the top management.

Attired elegantly and stylishly in various traditional Indian outfits, such as sarees and kurtas, with cheerful colours, the staff also participated in photo activities and shot video greetings.

Held at the lobby of Wisma Bernama here, the programme was attended by Bernama chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, deputy editor-in-chief (News Services) Nasriah Darus and Bernama TV head Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali.

Speaking after the festivities, Nur-ul Afida reminded the news agency’s employees who will return to their hometowns to be careful on the roads so that they can celebrate Deepavali this year with their families as they did in previous years.

“I hope that those going back to their hometowns will be careful on the roads so that you can return safely
to meet family members. Celebrate this Festival of Lights as brightly as possible and take the opportunity to bond with family members,” she said.

Meanwhile, Arul Rajoo said although Bernama operates throughout the year, all festivals are celebrated enthusiastically.

“As in previous years, we will record or shoot speeches to celebrate Deepavali, the same as with other festivals regardless of race and religion. We take the opportunity to celebrate even though Bernama operates 365 days without a holiday,” he said.
