Bakasa receives donations from UAE govt for flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — The Badan Amal Kasih Sayang Malaysia (Bakasa) today received donations from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for flood victims in several locations throughout the country.

Bakasa Royal Adviser Tengku Puteri Seri Teja Puan Sri Tengku Muhaini Sultan Ahmad Shah said the 2,000 aid packages consisted of dry goods, hygiene kits, and sarong.

“We are touched and grateful. We have done this charity work for a long time, this time is the biggest,” she told reporters after receiving the donations at the Bakasa office here.

The donations were presented by UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Khalid Ghanim Mohammad Al-Ghaith.

Tengku Muhaini, who is also the wife of Chief of Defence Force, Gen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, said the donations would first be handed over in Selangor to help families of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel affected by the floods.

The aid mission will continue to Pahang by deploying Bakasa members to Bentong and Raub districts and then to Mentakab and Temerloh, she added.

She also called on the public to continue to give donations and support to flood victims.
