Army rescues 150 stranded families in CamSur

Manila: The Philippine Army (PA) on Friday announced that the light urban search and rescue (USAR) team of the 525th Combat Engineer Battalion rescued 150 families stranded along the stretch of the Maharlika Highway from San Fernando town to Barangay Mabolo, Naga City, Camarines Sur on Thursday.

PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala, in a statement, said another light USAR team of the battalion arrived at the Legazpi City International Airport in Albay Friday morning to assist in the rescue efforts amid the widespread flooding caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in the Bicol Region.

He said the Army is in full solidarity with the Filipino people amid this calamity.

“Army soldiers are deployed in various areas to ensure swift and effective rescue and relief operations in close coordination with local government units and national government agencies,” Dema-ala said.
