AMB Connect Empowers MSMEs with Islamic Equity Crowdfunding – KUSKOP

KUALA LUMPUR, AMB Connect’s Islamic Equity Crowdfunding Platform seeks to provide a faith-compliant and transparent financial solution for Malaysia’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), enabling them to raise capital and navigate traditional financing challenges.

The Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (KUSKOP) announced today that the platform, launched by its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, complies with Shariah law and provides ethical, socially responsible investment opportunities.

It deliberately excludes sectors such as alcohol, gambling and excessive debt, said the ministry in a statement.

Instead, the platform focuses on sectors that positively impact society, including technology, healthcare and sustainable development.

‘This platform is not just a financial tool; it is a bridge to opportunity, enabling entrepreneurs from all walks of life to realise their dreams,’ Ewon stated during the launch ceremony.

Ewon outlined the platform’s benefits, highlighting that it provides
MSMEs access to a broader pool of investors, dismantling barriers that have traditionally hindered their growth.

“It embodies the principles of inclusivity and equality, ensuring every entrepreneur has the opportunity to succeed,” he added.

He emphasised the platform’s transparency, which builds trust between investors and entrepreneurs, and its ability to foster a sense of community and shared purpose.

During his speech, Ewon also emphasised the vital role of MSMEs in Malaysia’s economy, noting they account for 96.9 per cent of all business establishments and contribute 39.1 per cent to the nation’s gross domestic product in 2023.

“MSMEs are the backbone of our economy. They drive innovation, create jobs, and significantly contribute to Malaysia’s socioeconomic development,” he said.

Ewon highlighted the necessity of cultivating a supportive ecosystem for these businesses, aligning with the MADANI economy framework, and advancing the National Entrepreneurship Policy’s goal of establishing an entrepreneu
rial nation by 2030.
