After Recovery Last Year, Gabit Has Nose Cancer Relapse.

SEPANG: National motocross rider Muhamad Habibullah Mohd Saleh, popularly known as Gabit, is once again facing the challenge of nasal cancer after being declared free of the disease in 2023. The 33-year-old athlete, who had previously battled stage four nasal cancer in 2021, received confirmation from the National Cancer Institute (IKN) that the cancer has returned, just four days ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gabit expressed his distress at the relapse during the launch of the MKA Group helmet at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). He mentioned undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy previously, which led to him being cancer-free. However, he now faces uncertainty regarding the current stage of his cancer. “I can’t lie, it’s sad, devastating. I’m not okay; I feel numbness in my lips and throbbing gums when I talk a lot, and my right eye can’t see; I squint to the left. When I talk a lot, my tongue feels tense,” he revealed.

Gabit, a two-time SuperMoto Asia FIM champion, initially received hi
s diagnosis in December 2021. Despite the setback, the spirit of resilience was celebrated at the event with the introduction of the KYT TTR Jet Pendekar series helmet by the MKA Group. The helmet design features the image of the national hero and symbolizes Gabit’s determination in his ongoing battle against cancer. MKA Group chief executive officer Bruce Lee emphasized that the helmet series represents Gabit’s fighting spirit.
