4PH program targets to build over 10K housing units in Ilocos

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) targets to finish the construction of 10,342 vertical housing units in the Ilocos Region under the Pambansang Pabahay ng Pangulo Program (4PH) by the second quarter of 2025.

Bulk of the housing units will be in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte at 2,600 units and followed by the 2,560 in Urdaneta City; 2,412 in Malasiqui town; 1,600 in San Fabian town; 882 in Alaminos City; and 288 in Asingan town, all in Pangasinan.

The number of units allocated to a locality depends on the figure submitted by the local government unit (LGU) to the DHSUD, DHSUD Ilocos regional director Richard Venancio Fernando Ziga said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum on Tuesday.

Ziga said around 200 housing units in Laoag City will be finished by the end of this year.

In Alaminos City, the construction of housing units in Barangay Bolaney will begin within the year while the units in Urdaneta City, Malasiqui, Asingan, and San Fabian towns are in the pre-production s
tage, he said.

Ziga said four LGUs in Pangasinan, three in La Union, and two each in Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte have signed the memorandum of understanding with the DHSUD for the 4PH.

He is hopeful that more LGUs will join to address the housing backlog.

‘It will be in-city, meaning five minutes away from the city or town proper; near their workplace or school so that the beneficiaries will have no trouble in commuting,’ he said in Filipino.

The 4PH program is funded by private housing developers supervised by DHSUD.
