3 QC cops axed over viral video of response to actor’s death

MANILA: Three members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were removed from their posts after a video of their operation in response to the report of the death of veteran Ronaldo Valdez circulated online.

In a press conference held at Camp Crame on Wednesday, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the station commander and two police officers who served as first responders to the incident are now detailed at their administrative holding unit pending investigation based on the orders of QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan.

Fajardo called the incident “regrettable”, saying that such a video should only be for documentation purposes.

She added that these personnel may face administrative and criminal charges.

She added that the QCPD has requested the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to take down the video.

‘Gusto ko kuhanin itong pagkakataon na ito para manawagan din doon sa mga kababayan natin na refrain from sharing itong very sensitive na video na ito. It was not intended na ishare kasi let us res

It was not intended to be shared because let us respect the privacy of the victim and his family and perhaps one way of condoling with the family is for us to refrain from sharing that video),’ she stressed.

The QCPD confirmed the veteran actor’s death Sunday afternoon.

Valdez, 76, (James Ronald Dulaca Gibbs in real life) is the father of Melissa Gibbs and singer, actor, and comedian Janno Gibbs.
