3 bogus cosmetic surgeons fall in Iloilo City

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested three persons engaged in the practice of cosmetic surgery without a professional license in Iloilo City. In a statement Wednesday, the agency said the suspects Ivonne Pal, Roselyn Panes, and Michelle Tamdang were nabbed in an entrapment operation inside the Angel’s Pretty Aesthetic Beauty Lounge in Molo, Iloilo City on Oct. 19. The suspects were arrested upon receiving marked money worth PHP10,000 from a poseur client who availed of a nose lift procedure. They are facing charges of estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) and violation of Republic Act 2382 (Medical Act of 1959) before the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office. The operation stemmed from the complaints of clients who said they “suffered acute bacterial skin and soft tissue infections” after availing of facial rejuvenation and contouring services from the clinic. Investigation showed that the clinic is not registered with the Professional Regulation Commission and the Food and Drug Administration, the NBI said. The clinic is advertising its services to clients on Facebook, it added.
