142 wanted persons fall in series of security ops in Caraga


At least 142 wanted persons were arrested in a series of Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) conducted by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) from Nov. 14 to 22.

Of the arrested suspects, 38 are considered most wanted, including Efren Acain Calamohoy Jr., a squad leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) in North Eastern Mindanao, PRO-13 information office chief, Maj. Jennifer Omiter, said in an interview Thursday.

Calamohoy Jr., 35, was arrested in Lianga, Surigao del Sur on Nov. 21, based on an arrest warrant for kidnapping, serious illegal detention, and arson.

‘The arrest warrants for the criminal charges against Calamohoy were issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. Three other NPA rebels were also apprehended by our operatives during the weeklong SACLEO,’ Omiter said.

Calamohoy was tagged in the torching of the New Tubigon 8th Special Forces Company Patrol Base in Barangay New Tubigon, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, and the kidnappin
g of two leaders and 11 members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit on Dec. 19, 2018.

In Surigao del Norte, 44 wanted persons were apprehended during the duration of the SACLEO, followed by Agusan del Sur with 28; Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur, 22 each; Butuan City, 20; and Dinagat Islands, 2.

Four others were arrested by the police’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, and Regional Intelligence Division 13 in the same period.

Authorities also seized 83.52 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP569,936 from 29 drug personalities arrested during entrapment operations.
