KOTA KINABALU, A total of 14 new National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) in Sabah are set to be completed by the end of this year, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
He noted that Sabah currently has 115 NADI centres providing various programmes, such as eKelas, managed by communication service provider Maxis Berhad, to ensure children can review or engage in Science and Technology learning.
‘NADI will also implement programmes outside to benefit more local communities. The aim is to ensure that not only the community around the NADI can benefit from the programmes, but also a wider community,’ he said.
He told this to reporters after visiting the NADI site in Kampung Warisan Menggatal, near here today.
Fahmi added that there are several other initiatives that NADI will undertake, focusing mainly on the benefits of the digital economy, in addition to providing an understanding of all assistance programmes implemented by the government.
‘This includes all the benefits announced by Prime
Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when tabling Budget 2025 yesterday,’ he said.
NADI is a government project initiated in 2013 by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
This project was launched during the 2013 Budget presentation under the Universal Service Provision (USP), with the goal of bridging the digital divide between rural and urban communities.
