WiPers Women’s Rugby Squad Eye Gold At SUKMA

The Federal Territories (WiPers) women’s rugby 7s squad aim for gold at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 in Sarawak this month.

Team manager Abdul Rashid Adlie said the squad boast six national under-20 and under-18 players and are confident of winning the title.

‘We finished sixth in the last edition but at that time many players were sick. This time it is different and we have made thorough preparations to prevent the problem from recurring.

‘I am confident of this team as we have six national players and can go far,’ he told Bernama.

The WiPers squad are in a group of death together with last SUKMA runners-up Selangor, bronze medallists Sabah and Terengganu.

Abdul Rashid said they are making their final preparations in Limbang and Miri, ahead of the competition to be held from Aug 19 to 22 at Miri Stadium.
