WINNIE DEFENDS TITLE AT RSGC LADIES AMATEUR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, National golfer Winnie Ng successfully defended her title at the RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship 2024 by clinching the Tuanku Bahiyah Trophy at the Royal Selangor Golf Club, today.

The 23-year-old secured the title with a three-over-par 222, while Singapore’s Passion Hsu took second place with a six-over-par 225. Winnie’s compatriot Pang Hee Jie finished third with a 15-over-par 234.

Winnie, who had just celebrated her birthday last Friday, said the victory was a meaningful birthday gift for her, especially after winning the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open at Templer Park Country Club, last week.

‘I worked really hard. I am very grateful that I have a team of supporters. I’m really glad that both wins happened this month, especially so close to my birthday.

‘I had a great feeling and good momentum from last week, and I was just doing my best, hoping that I could win. And eventually, I secured the win,’ she told reporters after the prize presentation ceremony.

Winnie said today’s victory
also served as a boost for her to pursue a spot in the Maybank Championship 2024, which will be held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) from October 24-27.

The RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship 2024 is a three-day tournament involving female golfers recognised in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
