KLUANG, Electing a ‘Wakil Rakyat aligned with the state government provides the advantage in realising efforts to develop an area or uplift the people’s welfare.
Johor UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the people’s elected representatives who side with the government will have the facility to obtain allocations and find it easier to deal with leaders if they want to express the problems faced by the people.
“Therefore, we want to make the Mahkota state constituency like the Mengkibol state seat and Kluang Parliament seat, which are aligned in the same direction as the Unity government,” he said at a press conference after checking the Federal Route FT50 Batu Pahat-Mersing intersection expansion project today.
Kluang Member of Parliament Wong Shu Qi and Mengkibol state assemblyman Chew Chong Sin, both from Pakatan Harapan (PH), were present.
Ahmad also called on all Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters in the Mahkota State Assembly seat to come out and vote this Saturday to ensure the success of their candidate, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah.
Meanwhile, Wong, at a separate function, called upon outstation voters of the Mahkota constituency, including those working in Singapore, to return home and fulfil their responsibility in electing a representative who can provide good service and carry the people’s voice.
She also said their votes could support the state leadership and the federal government in ensuring the continuation of economic development in Johor and maintaining political stability.
“Their vote is meaningful because it gives support and confidence to the state government and also to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” she added.
The Mahkota state assembly by-election is witnessing a straight fight between Syed Hussien and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.
The by-election is being held following the death of incumbent Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.
