SEPANG: Celestino Vietti of Italy secured a commanding victory at the 2024 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix Moto2 race held at the Sepang International Circuit. Clocking in at 36 minutes 06.629 seconds, Vietti, representing the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, outpaced his competitors to take the top spot on the podium.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jorge Navarro from Spain, riding for the OnlyFans American Racing Team, finished in second place, trailing Vietti by 1.486 seconds. Izan Guevara, also hailing from Spain and part of the CFMOTO Aspar Team, claimed the third position with a gap of 3.265 seconds from the leader.
The race saw Jake Dixon from Great Britain, another CFMOTO Aspar Team racer, finish fourth, followed by Italian rider Tony Arbolino from the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team in fifth place. Marcos Ramirez of Spain, representing the OnlyFans American Racing Team, secured the sixth position.
Turkish rider Deniz Oncu from the Red Bull KTM Ajo team finished in seventh place, while Aron Canet of Fantic Racing
, hailing from Spain, claimed the eighth spot. Somkiat Chantra from Thailand, racing for IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia, finished ninth, and Brazilian racer Diogo Moreira of Italtrans Racing Team rounded off the top ten.
The race also featured notable performances from Manuel Gonzalez and Albert Arenas, both from Spain and racing for Gresini Moto2, who finished 11th and 12th respectively. Alonso Lopez from the Sync SpeedUp team secured the 13th position, followed by Sergio Garcia of MT Helmets – MSI in 14th, and Filip Salac from the Czech Republic riding for ELF Marc VDS Racing Team in 15th.
Among the unclassified racers were Zonta Van Den Goorbergh of RW Racing GP, Jeremy Alcoba from Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team, Ai Ogura of MT Helmets – MSI, and Darryn Binder from Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP, who were unable to complete the race. Additionally, Senna Agius, Alberto Surra, and Harrison Voight did not finish the first lap due to various challenges on the track.
