Victoria Institution Crowned Champion Of Field Parade Competition At MIMAC 2024

IPOH, Victoria Institution (VI) Kuala Lumpur emerged as the overall champion of the Field Parade Competition at the Malaysia International Marching Arts Championships (MIMAC) 2024, which took place here last night.

VI also triumphed in the Seniors category, edging out Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Nan Hwa, Sitiawan, which secured second place, while the marching band from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam took third.

Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Adika Raja, Gerik, dominated the Juniors category, followed by SK St Anthony, Teluk Intan in second place, and SK Temenggong Abd Rahman 1, Johor Bahru, in third.

MIMAC 2024, held from Aug 8 to 10 at Perak Stadium, received an overwhelming response with the participation of over 2,000 participants, officials, and teachers from four countries: China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.

All participants will compete in the Marching Show Band and Drummers Face-off Grand Finals today.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, in his speech,
said that the organisation of this international competition aligned with the efforts to boost the promotion of Visit Perak Year 2024 (TMP 2024).

“The organisation of this event is very timely and in line with Ipoh’s declaration as a UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN) for music,” he added.
