Vale, MPM Team Up To Organize Manjung Run 2024


IPOH, Vale, one of the world’s leading mining companies, is partnering with Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) for the inaugural Manjung Run 2024, a sporting event offering an exciting proposition for running enthusiasts and nature lovers by integrating fitness with tourism.

Vale Malaysia in a statement today said, this event will take place at Padang Bandaran Beruas, Perak on Oct 19.

Chief Executive Officer of Vale in Malaysia Leonardo Paiva said the Manjung Run 2024 aims to strike a balance between encouraging healthier, more active lifestyles and positioning Beruas as a key destination in Perak which is rooted in rich history and unique charm.

‘Together with Manjung Municipal Council as our valued partner, we are pleased to debut a sports tourism event designed with local residents and visitors in mind.

‘Manjung Run 2024 reflects a shared commitment towards inclusive, sustainable development in the district, with a focus on community wellbeing and economic prosperity,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Manjung Munici
pal Council Yang Dipertua Muhammad Faizal Shah Safian Suri said the location for this year’s run holds great significance which ‘Beruas has so much to offer’.

‘It is the site of Gangga Negara, one of the oldest civilizations in Southeast Asia – its stories transcend time, shaping the rich tapestry of architecture and culture synonymous with the town.

‘This positions Beruas as a truly unique and apt destination for Manjung Run 2024 and in highlighting the various tourism offerings in the Manjung district,’ he said.

The event has in store four main categories – 3 kilometers (km), 5km, 12km, and newly added 21km half-marathon – and the 21km category especially, has in store attractive cash prizes comprising RM800 for first place, RM600 for second place, and RM400 for third place in the open and veteran divisions.

The 12km category offers prizes comprising RM500 for first place, RM400 for second and RM300 for third place in the men’s and women’s open and veteran divisions while RM400, RM300 and RM200 will be
awarded to those who finish first, second and third respectively in the boy’s and girl’s junior categories.
