Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has presented a donation of RM157,500 to 225 asnaf students of the university.
The donation was presented by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) chief executive officer Datuk Baharin Din during the Iftar Perdana UNITEN 2023 programme at Dewan Seri Sarjana UNITEN last Tuesday.
At the event, Baharin also presented donations of RM44,800 to 64 students under the UNITEN Zakat Trust Fund Education Scholarship Scheme and RM141,600 to 287 excellent students.
“Donations totaling to RM48,500 and RM49,000 were also handed over to 97 UNITEN staff as well as 196 support/general workers, respectively,” the university said in a statement.
The donations are part of UNITEN’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help its students and staff.
During the same event, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Amanah Raya Berhad and Malakoff Corporation Berhad also presented wakalah zakat (tithe) to the UNITEN Zakat Trust Fund.
Present at the event were UNITEN vice chancellor Prof Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Nor Azman Mufti and TNB chief Regulatory and Stakeholder Management officer Datuk Shamsul Ahmad.
