UMNO’s Decision To Limit General Assembly To Party Members A Non-issue – Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today said that UMNO’s decision not to invite any component party of the Unity Government to attend its General Assembly next week is a non-issue.

In fact, Fahmi, who is also PKR Information chief, said they respected UMNO’s announcement yesterday that the party’s General Assembly slated to be held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from Aug 21 to 24, will only involve the party’s big family and representatives from Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.

‘No problem with that because we meet almost every day.

‘So, it’s a non-issue and we respect their decision,’ he told reporters after receiving sponsorships from the Communications Ministry’s strategic partners for the 2024 National Day Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebrations here.

Yesterday, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reportedly said the decision had been agreed upon at the Unity Government Leadership Council level.
