The UMNO Pasir Salak division launched the ‘Tabung Sumbangan Rakyat Palestin’ as a party initiative to help the Palestinian cause.
Its chief, Khairul Azwan Harun said the fund is aimed at helping Palestinians affected by the Palestine-Israel conflict.
“The UMNO Pasir Salak division is urging its members to donate to the struggle, welfare, education, development, and consensus of the Palestinian people,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
“The fund will move to 113 UMNO branches, and I call on all UMNO members to contribute to the fund, with a collection target of more than RM10,000 for a start.”
He said the launch of the fund is a mark of solidarity by the UMNO Pasir Salak division regardless of race and religion in supporting the world’s protest against the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.
He also said that after raising funds at the branch level, the fund will be extended to private parties including organisations.
The recent clashes in Palestine involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides since Oct 7.
