UEM Group Appoints Hisham As Chairman, Amran As Managing Director


KUALA LUMPUR, UEM Group Bhd has named Datuk Hisham Hamdan as chairman and Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin as managing director, both effective Aug 1, 2024.

In a statement today, the Khazanah Nasional Bhd subsidiary said the leadership change follows Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani’s departure as managing director on July 31, 2024, after five years of service.

Hisham, who has 30 years of experience across various corporate structures, joined Khazanah in April 2011. He was its chief investment officer responsible for managing and growing Khazanah’s multi-mandate and multi-asset portfolio.

“Since 2018, he has served as Khazanah’s head of public markets, with the mandate to invest in more than 10 countries across developed and emerging markets underpinned by systematic and quantamental investment strategies.

“Before public markets, he was responsible for the auto, agrifood and Iskandar Malaysia in Khazanah’s portfolio and served as executive director of research,’ the statement said.

ul Feisal Wan Zahir said Hisham’s appointment underscores the importance of UEM Group to Khazanah.

“With his vast experience and proven leadership, Hisham will lead the board and guide the UEM Group management in achieving its strategic and financial goals,” Amirul Feisal said.

As for Amran’s appointment as managing director, the statement said before this appointment, Amran was UEM Group’s chairman and served as Khazanah’s executive director, head of Malaysian investment. With over 27 years of experience, he was responsible for the sovereign wealth fund’s investments in various sectors.

Amirul Feisal said Amran will lead UEM Group’s growth in renewable energy, aligning with Khazanah’s focus on decarbonizing cities and industrial parks, and will continue to prioritise value creation within UEM Group’s subsidiaries.
