UDA Celebrates 50 Years In Johor


ISKANDAR PUTERI, UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA) has drawn up various development plans in conjunction with its golden jubilee celebration in Johor next year.

UDA’s presence in Johor will reach its 50th year on July 17, 2025, with the establishment of Land (South) Sdn Bhd and UDA Angsana Sdn Bhd, which manages the Angsana Johor Bahru Mall (AJBM).

UDA president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany said serviced apartment projects, comprising a 34-storey block in Tampoi town centre, and two 35-storey blocks in Skudai Kanan, have been proposed.

The government-linked company (GLC) is also planning to build a sustainable city in Bandar UDA Utama. In terms of housing and commercial properties, it plans to offer two-storey townhouses, two-storey terraced housing, two- and three-storey office shops and medium-cost apartments.

“An environmentally friendly city with efficient energy systems, integrated with urban amenities will be developed. It will be innovatively designed with lush greenery and sophistica
ted architecture,” he said at a Johor UDA media event last night.

Mohd Salem said the theme “Road to Golden Years – 50 Years and Beyond” was chosen to reflect UDA’s journey in the state.

UDA’s success in Johor underscores the support and trust from stakeholders, customers, strategic partners and the media, he said.

Various activities and promotions will also be planned to appreciate the continuous support of AJBM customers, operational since 1997. The mall hosts more than 15 million visitors yearly.

He said AJBM houses two UDA brands, Kirana, which offers handicraft products from 13 states, and Mari Mart, a one-stop retail centre. Tagline “Dari Kita Untuk Semua”, the mall offers food and beverage products produced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Mohd Salem said the the five-storey 400,000 sq ft shopping centre also has an events hall Laman Astana with the latest facilities. It can accommodate 1,000 pax.

It is suitable for weddings, concerts, dinners, graduation ceremonies and exhibitions.
Other facilities include badminton courts and an open area big enough to accommodate 10 tents.

There will also be a third edition of UDA Carnival 2024 in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn in Cheras in September 2024, followed by Johor Bahru in October 2024 and concludes in Kuching, Sarawak the same month.
