Two Malaysians with Drug Records Among Six Detained in Thailand, Confirms Kelantan Police.

KOTA BHARU: Two of the six Malaysians arrested in Golok, Thailand, on November 1, have prior records related to drug offences, revealed Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat. The individuals were detained in connection with a drug trafficking case currently under investigation by Thai authorities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian police are coordinating with their Thai counterparts, with Datuk Mohd Yusoff stating that the case’s jurisdiction falls under Thailand’s legal framework. While the investigation progresses, he refrained from speculating whether the drugs were meant for personal use or distribution. However, it was confirmed that urine tests conducted on the suspects returned positive for methamphetamine.

In response to inquiries about two of the suspects allegedly entering Thailand illegally, Mohd Yusoff clarified that this aspect is outside the police’s purview and lies with agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Malaysian Immigration Department. The
media had previously reported the arrest of six Malaysians, including a well-known dikir barat singer from Kelantan, at a hotel in Sungai Golok. They were allegedly found in possession of 6,000 Yaba pills.
