Two Bernama reporters collect 2021 Melaka Media Awards

MELAKA, Feb 14 — Bernama’s Melaka bureau won two of 24 awards involving eight categories at the 2021 Melaka Media Awards Night which took place here tonight.

Melaka Bernama news officer Shanika Abdullatib won the Silver Award in the Outstanding Article Category with her article entitled ‘Hilang Udang Geragau Lenyaplah Belacan Melaka’ taking home RM1,500 in cash, a trophy and a certificate of achievement.

Part-time reporter Rashidah Abd Rahim won the Bronze Award in the Outstanding Photo Category and took home RM750 in cash, a trophy and a certificate of achievement.

Meanwhile, Bernama chief executive officer Datuk Mokhtar Hussain won the Melaka Chief Minister’s Special Award and took home RM1,000, a trophy and a certificate of achievement.

The awards were presented by Melaka State Secretary Datuk Zaidi Johari and witnessed by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.

The other six categories offered were Outstanding News Award, the Outstanding TV Report Award, the Outstanding Radio Content Award, the Outstanding Media Personality Award and the Melaka Chief Minister’s Gold Award.

Earlier, Sulaiman, in his opening speech said mass media played an important role in the state and country.

He said the close cooperation between the Melaka state administration and the media helps in providing accurate and authentic information to the people, which in turn aids in developing the state and livelihood of its people.

“As strategic partners, the relationship between the mass media and the state government administration needs to be constantly enhanced and strengthened from time to time.

“So, that’s why an awards ceremony like this is held, which, among others, aims to give appreciation and recognition to media practitioners in Melaka for the services and devotion of the ladies and gentlemen over the years, either individually or through the media organisations they represent,” he said.
