TNB To Appeal Against Additional Notices From IRB Totalling RM1.39 Bln

KUALA LUMPUR, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it will appeal against the additional assessment notices from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) amounting to RM685.82 million and RM705.24 million for the assessment years 2020 and 2021, respectively.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the utility company said the notices received on Monday (Aug 19) were similar in nature to the notices received in the past years, which are presently pending in court, and the company has obtained an interim stay order against the payment of the disputed taxes.

‘Based on the legal advice obtained from our tax solicitors, TNB is of the view that it has a good basis in law to contend that the assessments were erroneously raised by the IRB.

‘Accordingly and as before, TNB will be appealing against the said notices the soonest,’ it said.
