Tabung Kasih@HAWANA Assists RTM Photographer Suffering From Foot Infection

KUALA LUMPUR, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) photographer Mohamad Razali Shafie, who has been suffering from a foot infection since August, received assistance from Tabung Kasih@HAWANA today.

The photographer, 48, contracted the infection in his right foot after sustaining a minor injury in August while working with the RTM production team in Uzbekistan.

The donation was presented by Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and Bernama’s editor-in-chief, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, during their visit to Mohamad Razali’s home today.

He also received clothing and essential items from Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari Sdn Bhd and Aeon Big.

Mohamad Razali, who has served at RTM for over 20 years, expressed his gratitude to Bernama, the implementing agency of the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA, for their generous support.

Explaining how he contracted the infection, Mohamad Razali said it began as a small wound on his big toe but eventually spread to his calf, making it difficult for him
to walk.

“It started with just a blister from too much walking. The doctors there advised me to return to Malaysia due to their limited medical facilities.

“Since then my foot has been swollen and oozing… I’ve been unable to work. It costs RM200 for five days’ worth of medication,” said the father of three.

Meanwhile, Nur-ul Afida said that Bernama is committed to ensuring that media personnel and veterans facing hardship receive the support they need.

She said since the introduction of the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA, 150 recipients, including veterans and media personnel experiencing financial difficulties or health issues nationwide, have benefited from the fund.

‘The Tabung Kasih@HAWANA is a Bernama initiative launched in conjunction with last year’s National Journalists Day in Perak. The Ministry of Communications has since made it a special initiative to assist media personnel and veterans in need.

‘With the RM1 million injection of funds announced by the government previously, we will continue our effo
rts to help media colleagues. We have also identified additional recipients who will receive assistance soon,” she added.
