KUALA LUMPUR, Synergy ESCO (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has entered into a partnership with Maybank to secure bank facilities of RM50 million for its portfolio of environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-aligned energy efficiency projects in Malaysia.

The collaboration underscores its parent company Unity Group Holdings International Ltd’s commitment to further expand its presence in Malaysia, ramp up energy-efficient solutions delivery to strata and commercial properties, and promote environmental sustainability with the Malaysian government, a statement said today.

Synergy ESCO, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed Unity Group, is an energy-saving solutions provider.

Unity Group chairman and chief executive officer Mansfield Wong said the partnership endorses ESG footprints in Malaysia and provides financial support to ‘turbo-charge’ the implementation of sustainable energy solutions.

Maybank client coverage managing director Lyana Jessie Lim said the partnership demonstrates Unity Group and the bank’s dedica

The statement also said Synergy ESCO partnered Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor (LPHS) to convert 6,000 condominium units to use Unity Group’s LED lights over the past year to reduce carbon emissions in ‘The Green Initiative Programme’.

‘To date, the company has deployed about 500,000 high energy-efficient LED lights, or 8.33 per cent of our target, in Selangor. We have achieved energy savings of up to 72 per cent,’ the statement said.
