Syed Hussien Determined To Assist, Develop The Only Orang Asli Village In Mahkota

KLUANG, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Mahkota state by-election is determined to continue the efforts of previous BN representatives in assisting the Orang Asli community in Kampung Tanah Runtuh here.

Syed Hussien, who is also Kluang UMNO Youth division chief, said that the efforts of BN representatives had enabled the villagers to enjoy various facilities and amenities, ensuring they receive attention from government agencies at both federal and state levels.

“Kampung Tanah Runtuh is the only village inhabited by the Orang Asli in Mahkota, and they do receive government attention; however, there are several matters that need maintenance, such as the drainage system.

‘Alhamdulillah, I was warmly welcomed here, thanks to the efforts of previous representatives who have contributed significantly to their welfare. I will continue the legacy and good work that has been initiated for the people of Mahkota,” he said after visiting the village here today.

The village has approximately 200 voters in the Mahkota constituency.

Meanwhile, village head, Mohd Noorsham Abdullah, 49, hopes that future representative would assist in cleaning the drains in the village, which have become clogged with soil due to the rain, as well as widening the access road to the village, which is winding and narrow, posing a danger to residents.

Housewife Murni Yasin, 39, expressed her hope that the village would receive a multipurpose hall for the residents’ convenience and a playground for children to enjoy recreational activities.

“The children here play in front of their houses only because there are no playgrounds or football fields. So, I hope they can have better facilities,” she said.

The Mahkota by-election, polling for which is on Saturday, is a straight contest between Syed Hussien and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.
