KUCHING, The Federal Territories (FT) proved to be the dominant force in table tennis when they ended the competition at the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) by winning four of the six golds at stake.
Im Li Ying captured the fourth and final gold for FT when she won the women’s singles final today, defeating Melaka’s Low Yu Xuan 11-6,11-6,11-9,11-8 at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK), Chung Hua No.3 here.
FT, coached by Muhamad Ashraf Haiqal Muhamad Rizal, had earlier won the mixed team, women’s doubles and men’s doubles gold medals.
Their mixed team comprised Lim Jing Shuen, Lee Yee Jat, Gan Ai Lis, Im Jin Zhen, Caleb Zi An Hong, Ng Jia Wei and Chan Jing Fei; the women’s doubles (Lim Jing Shuen-Im Li Ying) and men’s doubles (Lee Yee Jat-Tan Yee Heng).
The FT squad also won three silvers and one bronze at SUKMA 2024.

The women’s singles bronze medal went to Sarawak’s Annie Siaw Mei after she slogged to an 11-5, 5-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6, 13-11 win over Selangor’s Hun Hui Qi.
In the men’s singles category, Kedah’s Shen Wong Qi defeated FT’s Im Jin Zhen 11-6,11-4,11-3, 12-10 to take home the gold medal.
Selangor’s Tey Hong Yu took bronze after beating Penang’s Lai Yong Han 11-8, 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7.
