KUCHING, Sarawak’s 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) medallists will each receive incentives on Sept 14 at a dinner organised by the state government, said state Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
‘I was informed of this yesterday and told to be ready for the dinner function, provided there are no changes (to the schedule) by the Premier’s Office. We will reward those we promised,’ he said today.
Abdul Karim, also the Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister said medallists in team events will receive incentives of not less than RM3,000 per person for gold, not less than RM2,000 for silver and not less than RM1,000 for bronze.
Sarawak emerged as overall champions of SUKMA 2024 with a medal haul of 76 golds, 55 silvers and 70 bronzes. This is the fourth time they have achieved it, having also come out tops at the 1990, 1992 and 1994 editions.
