SUKMA 2024: Perak Cricketers Reign Supreme In Men’s, Women’s T10


KUCHING, Perak notched a delightful double in the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) cricket competition when they won both the men’s and women’s T10 gold medals at the Petra Jaya Cricket and Rugby Field here today.

In the men’s T10 final, Perak defeated Johor by 34 runs to make up for their team’s failure to defend the men’s T20 gold medal.

Terengganu took the bronze medal after beating Kedah by seven wickets.

In the women’s final, Perak stormed to a 51-run victory over Selangor.

Hosts Sarawak downed Federal Territories by 25 runs for the bronze medal.

Perak women’s cricket team coach Amiruddin Omar Arbain attributed their golden feat to the players’ hard work, high commitment and team spirit throughout the biennial Games.

‘This team was formed in 2019 and the oldest player is 19 years old. They are all from the same area in Perak. Not easy to train them, they need to undergo the process, so I am a firm believer in the phrase ‘Trust the Process’. We need time to produce a champion,’ he said.

k women’s team captain Nur Izzatul Syafiqa Fajrol’As thanked her teammates for giving their everything to ensure the won the gold medal.

‘We became champions as a team. I am delighted and want to thank my teammates for going all out. All our hard work has paid off,’ she said.
