SUKMA 2024: Golden Finish For Penang, Perak In Silambam


KUCHING, Penang and Perak’s silambam squads ended their 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) campaign on a high note, each clinching three gold medals in a display of outstanding performances.

At the Hikmah Exchange Event centre here, Penang kicked off their gold medal haul with K. Hirthick’s victory in the men’s 75kg and above poruthal (combat), defeating S. Siddarrtan of Federal Territories (FT).

Penang’s second gold came through V. Ranishaa in the women’s 70kg and above poruthal.

She defeated Sarawak’s Hani Qurratu’ain Samsudin, while B. Kavithira secured the third gold in the women’s 50kg and below poruthal after victory over Perak’s S. Pravina.

Perak’s first gold medal was won by P. Prevenan in the men’s 55kg – 65kg poruthal, after he defeated Zeqxvaly Rhajqhay Malor, while their second and third gold were through the mixed synchronised team events in the weapons and bare hands disciplines.

Today’s action also saw Selangor claim two gold medals, with M. Mahendran winning the men’s 65kg – 75kg poruthal eve
nt and through P. Luthrabalan in the 55kg and below poruthal.

Kedah secured a gold medal through P. Vinishya in the women’s 60kg – 70kg poruthal, while FT also got one gold courtesy of S. Madhumithasri in the women’s 50kg – 60kg poruthal.

Silambam offered 14 gold medals in this edition of the Games.
