Spin Doctors seek 3rd win vs. HD Spikers in Spikers Turf

Manila: Savouge Aesthetics eyes win No. 3 when it faces Cignal in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference elimination round at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Friday.

Louis Gamban, Giles Jeffer Torres, John Daniel Diwa Lorenz Señoron, and Norwel Sanama are expected to deliver again for the Spin Doctors in their 6 p.m. match against the HD Spikers.

Gamban scored 18 points in leading Savouge to a 23-25, 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 15-8 victory over Martelli Meats at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Oct. 18.

Torres contributed 15 points, five blocks, and two aces, while Diwa had 14 points and five blocks in the match that lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Señoron and Sanama, on the other hand, scored nine points each in their 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 triumph over the Volleyball Never Stops (VNS) Griffins at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna on Tuesday.

‘This 2-0 start boosts our confidence, especially Cignal is our next opponent,” Savouge coach Sydney Calderon said. ‘We don’t feel any pressure at all, we’r
e all excited to compete against them because we want to learn from them.’

Cignal, winner of the Open Conference in May, is coming off a 25-16, 25-16, 25-14 victory over Chichi DHTSI Brotherhood on Tuesday.

‘Savouge is not an easy opponent. It’s not just any team, there are many combinations. If we become complacent with what we’re going to play, it’s not good,” head coach Dexter Clamor said.

Joshua Umandal and rookies JM Ronquillo and Joshua Retamar will banner the HD Spikers.

Meanwhile, PGJC Navy will take on Chichi DHTSI at 4 p.m.

Leading the Navy are Greg Dolor, Joeven Dela Vega, and Louie Pudadera while the Titans will bank on Matthew Miguel and Jonathan Sorio to end a three-game slump.
