Simpang Empat Permatang Buluh PPV facilitates SPU residents to get booster dose

KEPALA BATAS, Feb 3 — The opening of the Simpang Empat Permatang Buluh Community Hall vaccination centre (PPV) here will facilitate the Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) residents to get their booster doses easily as there are still many who have not done so.

PPV manager Dr Janira Kumari said the PPV was able to administer between 1,000 to 1,500 doses daily and was initially opened for one month for booster doses.

“However, it has been extended to three months following the start of the vaccination programme for children today.

“Today is the first day of the opening, the response is still slow as people are still on holiday but we have contacted 700 booster dose recipients yesterday to inform them of the appointment and we also took some other alternatives to publicise this PPV,” she told Bernama when met at the PPV here today.

A check by Bernama found that people began to turn up at the PPV including members of the Chinese community who were still celebrating the Chinese New Year (CNY), but did not want to miss the opportunity to get their booster doses.

One of the recipients, Ang Eng Hoe, 50, a trader from Bagan Ajam, said that despite still being in the CNY celebration he took the opportunity to get his booster dose and was happy that it went smoothly and very fast.

“It took less than 10 minutes to get the injection compared with the first and second doses of the vaccine which took between an hour and an hour and a half. Even the staff here are very polite too,” said Ang.

Salbiah Cik Mat, 52, a single mother from Bagan Lebai Tahir, said she came to the PPV after missing out on an appointment last month as the location of the clinic is far from her home.

For S. Nirmala Devi, 43, who lives in Butterworth, she came to the PPV even though it was quite a distance from her home because she really wanted to get her booster shot immediately.
