Silence on Demolition Of Maps: Animation Park Under Liquidator, Says Saarani

IPOH, The Movie Animation Park Studio (MAPS) complex in Bandar Meru Raya is now under liquidation and no longer under the Perak government since the closure of the failed theme park, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Therefore, he said that the state government has no rights over the park.

‘We are not being silent, MAPS does not belong to the state anymore, I cannot touch people’s property,’ he said at the 2024 ‘KAMU’ Youth Carnival here today.

He said this when asked about a media report about Perak Opposition leader Razman Zakaria, who is also the Semanggol assemblyman, accusing the state government of remaining silent regarding the demolition of the MAPS complex.

Earlier, a video of the complex now in the process of demolition went viral on social media.

Previously, it was reported that the animation theme park built in 2015 on ??21 hectares costing RM520 million suffered losses with daily attendance of 200 people until it was closed in 2020 after three years.

Saarani was previous
ly reported as saying that the project was financed by PCB Development Sdn. Bhd. (PCBD) which is a subsidiary of PCB (Perak Corp Bhd) listed on Bursa Malaysia.

He was reported as saying that although the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) has a 56 per cent stake in PCB, the state government has not issued any allocation to invest and is not bound by guarantees with any financial institution.
