Selangor Govt Launches Ehsan Mart, Offering 10-15 Pct Lower Prices

KUALA LUMPUR, The Selangor state government, through the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), launched the Ehsan Mart today, a supermarket offering essential goods at prices 10 to 15 percent lower than market rates.

Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari stated that Ehsan Mart is a continuation of the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) programme organised by PKPS since August 2022, aimed at providing access to essential goods at affordable prices.

‘Ehsan Mart has been introduced as a more systematic and sustainable sales platform in response to the very positive feedback from the public.

‘Since the launch of JER, over 4,000 locations across Selangor have been visited, with a total subsidy expenditure of RM58.7 million,’ he said during the opening of the first Ehsan Mart in Selayang today.

Amirudin noted that the establishment of Ehsan Mart aligns with the state government’s efforts to proactively address rising prices and food security issues.

“It is hoped that Ehsan Mart would serve
as a strategic approach to connect with the public and help alleviate their cost of living burden,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKPS Group chief executive officer Datuk Dr. Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi, who also attended the event, announced that the agency plans to open 56 Ehsan Mart branches across Selangor within the next three years.

He noted that priority will be given to locations near state assembly constituency service centres, aligning with Ehsan Mart’s role as a strategic platform for the swift and effective distribution of essential goods and the facilitation of administrative tasks.

“Ehsan Mart will also function as a food distribution centre in the event of a disaster or emergency. It will be managed by PKPS’s subsidiary, PKPS Ehsan Agrotech Sdn Bhd,” he added.

PKPS is a subsidiary of the Selangor state government established under Enactment No. 12 of 1972 (amended in 1976, 1982, and 2005). It is responsible for driving the agriculture and agro-food sectors in line with socio-economic development thr
ough various high-impact commercial projects and corporate social responsibilities.
