JASIN, The waters around Sebatu in Sungai Rambai will be turned into crab farming project that uses the transfer of seed production technology from South Korea.

Sungai Rambai state assemblyman Siti Faizah Abd Azis said the project, expected to begin at the end of this year, will be implemented in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS), which successfully received a grant of almost RM1 million from the country concerned.

“The Sungai Rambai state assembly has established cooperation with UPM in an effort to establish a research and seeding centre for marine livestock products in Sebatu, thus turning the area into an agro-agricultural and eco-tourism village.

“Through this joint venture, the research team produced a proposal paper to be sent to countries that have technology in the field of aquaculture and succeeded in obtaining the grant,” she told reporters after visiting the preparations for the Melaka D’Bendang Festival 2
