SAUKASS LAUNCHES ‘BUDI’ SNEAKERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH FELDA SETTLERS’ DAY

SAUKASS International Sdn Bhd has launched the sneaker brand ‘Budi’, in conjunction with Felda Settlers’ Day which is taking place from today until Sunday (July 14) at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

Its director, Muhammad Ikmal Aliff Md Mustafa said the production of the Budi footwear, priced at RM159 a pair, and displayed in orange-and-white, was his appreciation to Felda for bringing many contributions to local entrepreneurs.

‘We started to produce the Budi sneakers since January this year, and the design was created by a young Pahang Felda youth. Alhamdulillah, it was well-received by the Felda authorities and we managed to produce 1,000 pairs of Budi shoes in conjunction with this programme,’ he said.

He said this to the media after Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang officiated the launch of the Budi sneakers here today.

Muhammad Ikmal, who hails from Felda Lawin Selatan in Lenggong, Perak said his company always produces shoe designs that carry eleme
nts of ‘storytelling’ specifically for young people.

“This element, highlighted by SAUKASS, is like our story that started from a night market business, and we are trying to penetrate the international market via social media such as TikTok and the SAUKASS website. Over the last two years, a total of 130,000 pairs of shoes have been sold on the TikTok platform,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rubiah said the SAUKASS success can be the best example for all Felda entrepreneurs to emulate, thus helping to improve the country’s economy.

‘SAUKASS, which was established nine years ago, has succeeded in exhibiting very good and creative efforts, apart from creating shoes that are suitable for young people at this time,’ she also said.

The Felda Settlers’ Day, which is for the first time being held over three days, is targeting 500,000 Felda settlers, new-generation settlers as well as the public.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to inaugurate the event on Sunday.

Settlers’ Day, which falls on July 7 ev
ery year, was established by second prime minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, who was also the founder of Felda, to honour the Felda settlers. The settlers have contributed to the development of the country for almost 70 years.
