Sarawak Premier’s Sister Dayang Meliah Dies

KUCHING, Dayang Meliah Tun Datuk Abang Openg, the elder sister of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, died today at the age of 89.

According to the statement from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Dayang Meliah breathed her last at 1.50 am at the Normah Medical Specialist Centre, here.

‘Her remains had been taken to the family residence in Jalan Muhibbah for friends and relatives to pay their last respects,’ it said.

The statement said Dayang Meliah, who was the third of 10 siblings, will be laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim cemetery later today.
