KUNAK: Barisan Nasional (BN) is prepared to contest independently in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election if no cooperation agreement is reached with other parties, stated its chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin. He emphasized that BN is ready to face the elections alone if necessary, as discussions with other political parties are still ongoing.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that talks have been held between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to explore possible collaboration, which may also involve Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). These discussions aim to establish a cooperative strategy for the state election, which is anticipated to occur by next year.
However, statements from various local and party leaders have hinted at the possibility of some parties choosing to run solo. In response to such developments, Bung Moktar asserted that Sabah BN and UMNO are prepared to meet any such challenges head-on. He extended an invitation to any party planning to c
ontest independently to brace themselves for robust opposition from Sabah BN.
Bung Moktar further assured that Sabah BN and UMNO are undeterred and have already mobilized their election machinery in anticipation of the upcoming polls.
