RM4.2 Mln Allocated To Build 44 New Recycling Centres in N.Sembilan

NILAI, The Negeri Sembilan State Development Office has approved 44 out of 58 applications to build Drive-Through Recycling Centres (DTRC) under the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (Sejati MADANI) programme with an allocation of RM4.2 million.

State Local Government Development, Housing and Transport Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the approved centres include 17 in Seremban, six in Jempol, three in Rembau, four each in Port Dickson and Jelebu, and the balance in Tampin and Kuala Pilah.

‘We have received numerous applications from communities and organisations wanting to implement DTRCs across the state. The Mantin DTRC is the first project to be completed using funds from the Sejati MADANI programme.

‘The establishment of this centre demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing the best facilities for the public while also helping to boost the local economy,’ he told reporters at the inauguration of the first DTRC in Kampung Baru Mantin today.

Negeri Sembilan Solid Waste Management and Public C
leansing Corporation (SWCorp) director Cairul Hisham Jalaluddin was also present.

Arul Kumar further said the federal government allocates RM100,000 through the Sejati MADANI programme to communities to encourage socio-economy activities.

The Nilai assemblyman also said that the government, through SWCorp, has been organising various recycling programmes and campaigns at all levels of society to preserve the environment and prevent further waste from being sent to landfills.

‘The National Cleanliness Policy 2020-2030, introduced in 2019 and aims to make Malaysia a clean, sustainable and prosperous nation, is aligned with the Sejati MADANI Programme.

‘This policy also seeks to increase recycling initiatives within communities to support the agenda of waste as a source of wealth and contribute to environmental conservation efforts,’ he said.
