malaysiangKUALA LUMPUR, The resilience and perseverance shown by Malaysian athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics has served as an inspiration for the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to boost the status of export at the global stage.
Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said he would like to see the same fighting spirit, resilience and perseverance shown by athletes being adopted in Matrade, especially in achieving the mandate of the targetted export value of RM1.73 trillion products and services by 2025.
Reezal Merican said to achieve the target, everyone in Matrade, at all 49 offices throughout the world, must must go through the challenges that are dynamic in nature, like the unstable geo-politics in the Middle East, piracy in the Red Sea, forex and the business policy changes throughout the world.
‘I want to see these values inculcated because Matrade is the touch point for the country’s promotional export activites with the outside world.
“These are among efforts to
restore the confidence of the global business entity, especially investors to see the country’s economy rebound to the peak that it was before,” he said at the ‘Semarak Sokongan Team Malaysia di Olimpik Paris 2024’ and Matrade’s launch of the Merdeka Month Celebrations, here today.
During the programme, everyone at the Matrade headquarters were dressed in sports attire themed ‘Harimau Malaya’ to showcase the agency’s support to all 26 athltes of the Malaysian contingent who are carrying the country’s high hopes at the 2024 Paris Olympics by singing patriotic songs and waving the Jalur Gemilang.
Reezal Merican said the month of August this year would bring about a thousand and one meaningful memories since the entire nation is able to watch our athletes compete for honours in Paris that will further spur the celebrations for the Month of Independence.
“That is why Matrade is providing support with ‘shouts’ of Team MAS, Demi Malaysia and Merdeka’ today, hoping it will serve as an inspiration that will remain
intact in the heart and soul of every individual in Matrade.
‘Because, in the journey of fulfilling the mandate vested upon Matrade, they too champion the challenges of the country, just like the role of our athletes in the Paris Olympics,” he said.
