Rapid KL Explorace Attracts 800 Participants

KUALA LUMPUR, A total of 800 participants from 200 teams participated in the Rapid KL Merdeka Explorace 3.0 (EMRKL 3.0), organised by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd in conjunction with National Day.

The event once again featured a variety of activities that allowed participants to reflect on and immerse themselves in the culture and history of the nation’s independence, in line with this year’s National Day theme, ‘Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka’.

Prasarana Group Communications and Stakeholder Relations head Adli Abdul Karim said this third edition of EMRKL holds special significance as it is also part of Rapid KL’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

“As a public transportation company, this event plays an important role in promoting the use of public transport among the community while showcasing the landmarks of Kuala Lumpur.

“Alhamdulillah, the number of participants has been increasing every year, and this is an opportunity for city dwellers to celebrate National Day in a different way,” he told Bernama after fla
gging off the participants at Dataran Muzium Negara here today.

EMRKL 3.0 required participants to explore Rapid KL’s rail and bus networks to complete tasks that tested their knowledge of Malaysian culture and history before returning to Dataran Muzium Negara.

“These tasks had to be completed at six ‘checkpoints’ located at selected spots along the LRT, monorail and MRT routes, and Rapid KL bus routes around the city centre.

“This programme gave participants a chance to embody the spirit of National Day while fostering a love for the country by completing the assigned tasks,” he said.

One of the participants Muhd Shamsul Abd Ghani, 35, from Shah Alam, said the event could serve as a platform to further strengthen unity and harmony among Malaysia’s diverse races.

“Looking at the participants, they come from various ethnic backgrounds — Malay, Chinese and Indian –who represent Malaysia,” said Shamsul, a journalist with ‘Sinar Harian’ daily.

Cien Yoong Hee, 31, from Petaling Jaya, said participating in
EMRKL 3.0 was a new experience for him, adding it served as an excellent platform for participants to build strong bonds.

“I found the activities exciting… it also helped to increase my knowledge,” he said.

Private sector employee Nurdeena Anuar, 35, from Ampang, said she managed to discover various interesting locations in the city using public transport.

“In addition to helping me make new friends, I found this event a stress buster as well,’ she added.
