Rains over most of PH on Heroes Day due to ‘habagat’

MANILA: The southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rains over most parts of the country on National Heroes’ Day, the last day of the long weekend.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over the Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the provinces of Quezon, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Metro Manila, the rest of Calabarzon, and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Shanshan was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility or at 1,490 km east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 140 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It is moving west-northwest at 25 kph
.

The typhoon is not seen to have a direct impact on the country’s weather conditions.

Coastal waters in Northern and Central Luzon and the rest of the country will be from slight to moderate.
