PVL Finals moved to Sept. 4 at Philsports Arena

MANILA: The Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference finals between unbeaten Akari and multi-titled Creamline was postponed due to severe weather conditions.

The match, which was originally set for Monday (Sept. 2) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, was rescheduled on Sept. 4 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City, as announced by the organizing Sports Vision.

“Due to severe weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Enteng, the one-game finale between Akari and Creamline has been moved to Sept. 4. Our top priority is the safety of our players and fans,” Sports Vision said in a news release on Monday.

Typhoon Enteng has caused widespread floods throughout Metro Manila, including the roads leading to the Cubao venue, making travel hazardous for both participants and spectators.

Meanwhile, the PVL has upheld the first referee’s decision regarding the non-call on a net touch during PLDT’s heated semifinal match against Akari last Thursday.

The league cited FIVB Rule 11.3.2 which allows players to touch t
he net as long as it does not interfere with the play.

Akari went on to claim the victory, moving the Chargers to a win of securing the title via a sweep.

The PLDT management reluctantly accepted the PVL’s ruling late Sunday.

In a statement, the team thanked its fans for their support and reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport.
